Props, Locations, Filming and Editing For Preliminary Task

Props we will need for the video are as follows:
  • Tables and chairs

  • Lockers

  • Schoolbags

  • Pencil (pencil case)

  • Books and folders

  • Clock

  • Schoolbell

  • Teacher

Britneys costume: Shirt, skirt, school shoes, cardigan, long socks, pigtails

Boys costumes: Shirt, trousers and blazer

Girls costumes: Slight variations of Britneys

We used costumes and styling that was easy to get hold of to limit the amount of time spent on the preliminary task as much as possible, and the majority of the costumes the actors used were based largely around the uniform we wear to school anyway.

Location

The location we used to film our section of the music video was our school, this was both conveniant and accurate as the original was based in school location as well. The fact that we could record in school, meant that we could remain onsite and complete the filming in our lesson time.

Filming

We filmed over 3 days during lesson time. Some members of the group were on a school trip for one day of filming, so to ensure they were included, we filmed different parts on different days. This gave them the same experiences as everyone else. It was difficult to make the video look identical as the setting was not exactly the same as the original, so we had to do some slight variations with the shot types, whilst trying to keep it as similar as we could. As it was only a preliminary task, we understood that the continuity of having the same actress throughout didn't really matter. We used two different people so that we could all have a go at recording.

Editing

We found editing all the shots together quite easy as we had the experience and knowledge of how to use the software from our previous AS project. We had never dealt with lip syncing before, so matching the lyrics to the visuals and getting the timing exactly correct was the most challenging part of the editing process. In the end, we got them to match as best we could and were quite pleased with the final outcome. It didnt look at professional as the original, but was a fair amateur attempt, considering the equipment and time frame we had to complete the task.
